Hello, DREAMERS (I keep using that term, so we reflect on the lessons from our study of Joseph, the dreamer; and also because this idea of acting on dreams was an essential aspect of Dr. King’s message).

We will gather again on Sunday, 28 April.   You have a choice of joining us in-person for our class time or you can use the GoToMeeting® software (There will not be donuts this week—I’m out of town).

The video teaching lessons for Bible Stories for Grown-Ups are available through the church’s Amplify subscription—contact the church office for specific access information.  There are six lessons and six videos with each video being about 12 minutes long.

“Around the room time”–A time to share our Joys and Concerns as we stay in touch as community with personal updates with one another:  joys, prayers, needs, laughs, dreams, travel plans and experiences, gardening status, requesting help, etc.

This week we will be using Session 5 of Josh Scott’s study: “When Repentance Isn’t Enough:  Looking for Zaccheus”.  Marsha Henderson will be facilitating our discussion, and Kim Carson will be dealing with the technology actions.

The “Bible story” that Josh Scott wants us to consider this week is found primarily in Luke 19:1-10.  Scott wants us to know that there is much more to the Zaccheus encounter beyond the fact that Zaccheus was a “wee little man”.

Scott also brings in another story from Luke 18 about the “rich young ruler” who has an encounter with Jesus.  These two stories lead Scott to ask us what we think the meaning of “repentance” is and what our view is of “the age to come” (Scott, pages 87-90).

Zaccheus wanted to see Jesus.  Why do you think he wanted to go out of his way to see Jesus?

Is there someone you would go out of your way to see/meet?  Why would it be important for you to meet/see that person?

Jesus went to have a meal with Zaccheus.  Who would you want to have a meal with tonight?  Why?  How would you prepare for the meal?

thanks
